Manage data

All data you ingest into Imply Lumi is written to object storage by default. To optimize query performance and manage costs, Lumi provides the following data tiers:

  • Hot tier (default): High-performance tier that delivers low latency, high concurrency, and consistent query performance.
  • Virtual tier (requires configuration): Cost-efficient tier that loads data from object storage on demand at higher latency than the hot tier.

You can optimize your storage strategy by configuring the following data management rules:

  • Deletion rules determine how long data remains in object storage before it is permanently deleted.
  • Tiering rules determine tier capacity and how long data remains in hot storage.

Use the topics in this section to configure data tiers, monitor storage metrics, and set up deletion rules to manage data retention.
