Usage metrics reference

This topic provides a reference for the usage metrics available in Imply Polaris. You can access the usage metrics to monitor and analyze use of the following assets: data cubes, dashboards, alerts, and reports. You can view asset usage in general and usage by specific Polaris users.

See Monitoring dashboards for prerequisites and information on how to navigate the dashboards. For information on all monitoring features available in Polaris, see the Monitoring overview.

Click Usage > Summary in the Monitoring section of the left pane to access the usage summary metrics.

Summary

This section describes the usage summary dashboard tiles.

Daily active users

Shows the number of daily active users.

Data cube views

Shows the number of views for each data cube.

Dashboard views

Shows the number of views for each dashboard.

Data cubes created

Shows the number of data cubes created.

Data cubes created

Dashboards created

Shows the number of dashboards created.

Shows the number of reports created.

Shows the number of alerts created.

User metrics

Click Usage > User metrics in the Monitoring section of the left pane to access the user metrics.

These dashboards provide user-specific usage information. Use the Filters bar to set a time period and select one or more Polaris users.

Created

The dashboards at the top of the page provide counts of the number of data cubes, dashboards, alerts and reports created by the selected users.

Viewed

Data cubes and dashboards viewed by the selected users are listed in descending order of views.

Activity

Activity performed by the selected users includes the following details:

  • Time: Date and time the activity was performed.
  • User: User who performed the activity.
  • Event type: Type of activity, for example creation, page view, edit, project ID change.
  • Resource: Target of the activity, for example the name of the data cube, dashboard, report, or alert.
  • Count: Number of activities performed.

Click Usage > Data cube metrics in the Monitoring section of the left pane to access the data cube metrics.

Use the Filters bar to set a time period and click Resource to select one or more data cubes.

Polaris displays the number of views, most active users, and activity for the selected users and data cubes.

Click Usage > Dashboard metrics in the Monitoring section of the left pane to access the dashboard metrics.

Use the Filters bar to set a time period and click Resource to select one or more dashboards.
